More Sitephocus is the web log extension of sitephocus.com, the on-line image library of the built environment. The topics found here cover anything related to the shaping of the outdoor built environment (i.e. landscape architecture, architecture, urban design).

Background Info

Time is money.

So how much money do you spend searching for “representative imagery?”

At sitephocus, all our photos are of the built environment, and our advanced search options let you quickly find exactly what you want – by location, project type, or design element.

So if your Google Images or Flickr searches are turning up too much family vacation and not enough designed spaces, next time try sitephocus.

Sitephocus   …   Get the Picture

Sitephocus.com was founded in 2005 by two Nashville-based landscape architects.  The idea began with a simple question: “Where can I find images of a metal gate?”  The founders, Chris Whitis and Brian Phelps, were searching for photographs to include in a project presentation, and they quickly realized how frustrating and inefficient searching for images on Google Images or Flickr can be.  They also realized how that kind of image search can cost a design firm time and money.

Today, sitephocus.com includes more than 30,000 high-resolution photographs of more than 2000 locations on four continents.  The pair travels regularly and posts between 300 and 500 new images per month.

    Hello,
I am hoping to get in touch with Chris and Brian. My name is Neil Podoll and I am a landscape architect turned photographer. http://www.neilpodoll.com I was really excited to come across your website because I have been talking with a friend (another landscape architect) about how we think it would be useful to have a website with images focused on LA and Urban design. I wanted to contact you because I have a bunch of questions about how you got started and if you are doing this full time? Etc.

Also, I am wondering if there are any potential opportunities with sitephocus?… Such as allowing photographers (such as myself) to upload and sell images? Or franchising of some sort? Let me know if you are already doing this or have any thoughts/ideas.

Basically I have been doing photography full-time for the last 3 years and still do some contract landscape design work for multiple residential design/build companies on the side here in Colorado Springs. My goal is to do something more with photography instead of just working more and more contract jobs. I hope build something like you guys have! I love that you have mixed the realms together.

I hope to hear from you soon!
    Thanks,
    Neil
