February’s update to www.sitephocus.com included various sites from Barcelona, Detroit, and Nashville.  In Barcelona, sites covered were the Media TIC, RTFE Corporate, and Interface Buildings, as well as the Universat Pompeu Fabra.  Badalona, and city located near Barcelona, included Badalona Park and the Public Square.

Detroit featured a really cool urban agriculture garden in downtown with raised planter garden plots.  Nashville included the Shelby Bottoms Nature Center, an educational facility within the Metro Nashville Parks system.  Images from the update are included below with many more images of each site found at www.sitephocus.com.

Hayswood Nature Reserve Trail, Corydon, Indiana – This was a small project included this month that features the relocation of a historic steel structure bridge that was relocated and rehabbed to serve as the town’s first greenway.

It’s been a busy beginning to the new year, so a bit delayed in getting the last couple of posts up for the most recent updates.  The latest series includes more of San Diego, including the Gaslamp District, Children’s Museum Park and Children’s Park (by PWP Landscape Architecture), and a contemporary pedestrian bridge crossing the city’s light rail line, among others.  Also included are the Museu can Framis and Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.

Little Italy is a unique neighborhood that’s seen a lot of low to mid-rise development and has a great, urban feel.  I was there when the Saturday Farmer’s Market was bustling with activity.  The Farmer’s Market stretched a few blocks and ended at Amici Park that had a few bocce games on-going.  The neighborhood had many sidewalk cafes which added to the bustle of the area.

The East Village is a major redevelopment area that includes Petco Park, the stadium of the San Diego Padres. The residential development in this area tended to be higher density mid to high-rise, in many cases similar to the Vancouver model podium/ tower.
